She entered the convent …and experienced the wounds of the crown of thorns. Her two sons died shortly after that and St Rita focused on prayer, fasting, penance and good works. After 20 years, her husband repented before he died. She is the patron saint of impossible causes and hopeless or desperate cases because of the difficulties she experienced in her life.Īlthough St Rita wished to be a nun, her marriage was arranged to a difficult and violent man. 12x18s are printed to order (so might take a week or so longer), rolled carefully and shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailing tube.May 22 is the Feast Day of St. If she was chosen to be prayed for in extremely difficult situations, it is because her life was marked by many trials from which she grew. She is also known as the one who believed that everything was possible. They make a unique and meaningful favor for Confirmation celebrations. Featuring the main image on the front, the back has the quote in black & white hand lettered text. This image is also available as a set of 12 2.5x3 inch prayercards in a colorful organza bag. Each print is signed in pencil by the artist (me), with the date and name of the piece handwritten on the back as well. All of my prints are professionally run by a small, locally owned printshop. A narrow white border runs around the edge of the print. Prints measure 12x18, 11x14, 8x10, or 5x7 inches on bright white, acid free, 100# paper. The snow drift beneath her window is a lovely place to add custom details - such a unique gift! Names and dates are added by me, by hand, in text that matches the lettering within the original piece. I look forward to adding names and dates to this piece (see Photo 4-5 for a sample) for Confirmations or other special celebrations. It references her partial stigmata and several of the miracles associated with her life: The text I included in this piece is the 3rd stanza of an old, traditional hymn to St Rita. She died in 1457 on what is now her Feast Day, May 22. After the murder of her husband and death of her sons, she entered religious life - which had been her hope from a young age. Saint Rita of Cascia, born in 1381, endured a marriage of abuse and complicated family strife.
